OHRI Goals
The overall business goal of OpenMRS HIV Reference Implementation (OHRI) is to support the data management need of a generic PEPFAR-supported health facility.
Generic health facilities do not exist due to the fact there are different levels in the health system, and different countries have different health care systems.
Despite this, an attempt will be made to develop OHRI based on an “average” health facility, average in terms of what the common data management needs for health facilities in PEPFAR-supported countries are.
In other words, the focus will be on the use cases commonly expected to be part of the majority of PEPFAR-supported health facilities.
Given this background, OHRI is expected to support the following business goals:
- Support the collection, management, analysis, synthesis, reporting, and use of HIV-related data in a wide array of HIV programmatic areas that can work in an average (generic) PEPFAR-supported health facility and beyond
- Improve clinical care, decision support, and workflow efficiencies by enabling health workers to interact with the system and its data through the adoption of both Point of Care and retrospective data entry paradigms
- Improve patient care, program monitoring, and epidemic control both within a facility and across facilities through standard-based data exchanges with other health information systems
