HIV CASE-BASED SURVEILLANCESample Data Analysis Plan
UCSF-KENYA
SURVEILLANCE TEAM
Introduction
This document serves as a sample analysis plan for case-based surveillance (CBS) for HIV. It provides a range of data tables and visualizations based on the minimum dataset recommended for HIV CBS. The scenarios presented here are a fairly exhaustive “menu” of options through which HIV CBS data can be analyzed. In most cases, countries will need to make selections based on their programmatic/surveillance needs and priorities. This document should therefore serve as a starting point, from which visualizations and tables can be selected. Such tables can then be incorporated into a dashboard. Many of the visualizations presented here can be further filtered. Common filters (slicers) may include:
- Geographic location (county, district, facility, etc)
- Age groups
- Sex
- Year (for example, year of diagnosis)
- Key population
- Recent or long-term infection
An exact determination can only be made based on individual country requirements as well as the type of visual. This, therefore, serves as a guide.
